Scott Turner
Scott’s passion for photography sparked at an early age, shooting for the school paper and yearbook. During college, he had less time and resources to pursue his own photography but a Film Criticism course introduced him to the visual language of cinema and transformed his appreciation of film and photography. It was no longer all about acting, dialog and plot.
His career left little time for making photos and developing the craft but it honed his perceptual skills now essential to understanding photography as art beyond observational capture. Successful sales professionals become adept at reading people to understand not only their stated needs, but also their unspoken or withheld constraints and drivers.
As a pre-sales systems engineer, it was Scott’s job to quickly construct a technical solution and persuade all of the stakeholders it was the best. Success required the same perceptive skills used by the salesperson, but applied to a larger group; each with their own, often conflicting perspectives and biases.
Unsatisfied with limited authority, Scott founded an independent consulting and contracting company. As his company expanded and his management responsibilities grew, he never completely relinquished the creative and technical aspects of the business that first attracted him. He wore many hats and changed them often. It was Interesting times, in all senses of the word.
Retirement provided time with significantly fewer demands. Scott returned to photography and applied these same investigative observation and pattern recognition skills to his old passion.
Easily bored, he typically works across several ongoing series simultaneously.
